5 things to fix on your Google Business Profile today
Most profiles have the same handful of problems. Here is a quick audit you can run in twenty minutes.
1. Check your categories
Your primary category is the single strongest relevance signal on the profile. If you are a window cleaner but your primary category says "Janitorial Service", you are losing the searches that matter. Set the primary category to the exact service people search for, then add secondary categories for related work.
2. Fill every service in the services list
Google lets you list services under each category. An empty services list tells Google nothing about what you do. List them all, with a short description on each one.
3. Answer your unanswered reviews
Open the review tab. If any review from the last few months has no response, answer it. Responses show prospective customers how you handle people, and Google counts owner activity.
4. Look at your photos with a stranger's eyes
Scroll your photo section as if you were a customer. Is the most recent photo from two years ago? Are there photos of actual completed work, or just a logo? Add three photos of recent jobs this week. Post photos consistently after that, not in a burst.
5. Check your hours and service areas
Wrong holiday hours and missing service areas quietly cost calls. Confirm your hours match reality and that your service areas cover the neighbourhoods you actually work in.
Fix these five and you have covered the issues that hold back most profiles. If the list feels like more than you have time for, that is exactly the work we do every week for our clients.
